Creating an FRC

Financial Reporting Categories are powerful tools that let you report on any aspect of your business. Plus, they're very easy to set up!

 

Note: You will want to have a Tax Rate set up before you create an FRC. We have those instructions on our Knowledge Base too!

 

Creating a Financial Reporting Category (FRC)

  1. Log in to Sidewalk Studio using the appropriate URL. Your login information will be the same that you use to log in to Sidewalk Merchant.
  2. Select the location in which you’d like to create an FRC.
  3. Click on the Accounting link.
  4. Once that page loads, click on the FRC tab.
  5. Click the button. The Create Financial Reporting Category screen will appear.
  6. Fill in any applicable fields to create your tax rate. The minimum fields required for an FRC to be created are Name, Type, Parent (if applicable) and Tax Rate.
    1. Type: Departments are comprised of Classes. Classes are comprised of Subclasses.
    2. Parent: If you select Class or Subclass, you will need to pick an appropriate parent category. The categories on the drop-down menu are organized numerically by Reporting Code.
    3. Tax Rate: Tax Rates are created and edited on the Tax tab.
    4. Reporting Code: While not a requirement for an FRC location, many stores take advantage of this field. You can give Classes and Subclasses similar reporting codes, e.g. Department: 80, Class: 80-10, Subclass: 80-10-05.

Editing or Deleting a Financial Reporting Category (FRC)

  1. Log in to Sidewalk Studio using the appropriate URL. Your login information will be the same that you use to log in to Sidewalk Merchant.
  2. Select the location in which you’d like to edit an FRC.
  3. Click on the Accounting tab.
  4. Once that page loads, click on the FRC tab.
  5. We now need to find the FRC that you would like to edit. Input data into any field or combination of fields, then click Search.
  6. Click the appropriate search result. The Edit Financial Reporting Category screen will load.
  7. From here, you can add, edit, or delete data in any of the fields, then click the button to save your changes. Note that the minimum fields required for an FRC to be created are Name, Type, Parent (if applicable) and Tax Rate.
  8. To Delete an FRC, click the button at the bottom right of the screen. Click to confirm.
