•Improvement: You all remember the Finalize button, right? It's the official way to tell Hero that the adoption(s) for a section are set, and that Hero can go tell the POS. While supporting Hero, we've found it useful to be able to Re-Finalize an adoption, at will, so that we can make sure that the item flows appropriately out of Hero and into your Point of Sale. And because we're a generous and amiable company, we decided to extend this power to you. Any Hero Admin can now Re-Finalize the adoptions for any section.
Winners Don't do Bugs:
•If your students are using a Guest Catalog (meaning, they're accessing Hero without logging into Hero) then they weren't able to print their booklists. Now they can! It makes for very easy price comparison.
Reports and Data Sorts:
•Improvement: The All Items Report now has a Publisher Column, and at no extra cost to you has an Instructor Name column as well. It's on your Stats page. Go get it!
You Gotta Talk the Walk:
•Improvement: We know that some of you are blessed with buckets of faculty users, and scrolling through a list to Invite them to Adopt can be a pain. So if a faculty user has either adopted something or marked No Materials Required for each of her courses, her name will be filtered out of the Invitation to Adopt list.
•Improvement: We've added more toggles to the Email Configuration page, and not just because we like typing the word "toggle." Now you can decide whether Hero should submit a confirmation email to faculty users when they've successfully submitted an adoption. Making a change here will affect your entire campus.
•But wait, there's more! Instructors have control of that same toggle (toggle toggle toggle) in their Profile page. Making a change here will affect only themselves.
If your store uses Nebraska Book Company's WinPRISM POS, then these feature improvements are for you!
•If you want to enable out of stock purchases in Hero, you can already do it: enable the setting in WinPRISM, then watch your orders flow in from Hero. This week we taught Hero to look somewhere else to enable out of stock rentals as well.
•New Report: If you're a Nebraska user, Hero and your point of sale sync their data all day long. We figured it was helpful for everyone to know if the sync had failed for a particular item, so that you can investigate where the trouble is. Therefore, behold the Sync Report on your Stats page. Going forward, if Hero and WinPRISM ever have trouble talking to each other, you'll know exactly when and where. Then you can start syncing about how to fix the issue.
•If your institution requires you to use a different web browser than most of the world does, or forbids you from updating that browser, we promise not to judge you (Well, to a point. We aren't perfect. But we love you.). And case in point: if Hero was on Internet Explorer (v.11), then those Nebraska-specific Rent Only or New Only checkboxes weren't being respected. Now they are.
•We had a tricky situation: what if a professor wipes out all her finalized adoptions for a section, then goes to bed without marking No Materials Required or adding new adoptions? In that case, Hero would tell WinPRISM a variety of conflicting stories and both systems would feel a bit nauseous. To stop that from happening, if a faculty user is about to trigger a Big Awkward Limbo Situation, Hero will show her a new popup. It looks like this:
That's it for this week! If you have any questions, or you find the power of Re-Finalizing strangely addicting, grab your nearest Customer Success Manager or reach out to email@example.com. We'll get you taken care of!
