•Say hello to the Cost Wizard! When you search for new course material in the Adoption Editor, you now have access to a handy slider that will filter results to the price students are likely to pay. And yes, you can search for Free (OER) items only!
•We've expanded the logic of the button that lets you Readopt Last Term's Material. If you're a faculty user and you taught the course last term, then Hero readopts your adoptions like normal. If you're a faculty user and you didn't teach the course last term (or the historical term data in Hero doesn't link you to your course) then you can still click the Readopt button. In either case, Hero will open the Adoption Editor for you and prep a list of course materials that a previous faculty user used. You can add them to your course or not, as you choose.
•Just in case you don't think we're thorough, check out this bug we fixed: if a faculty user adopted two books to Option 1, but had no other Options available, Hero didn't know whether you were trying to give students an option or require a specific book. In case you ever do that on purpose or by accident, Hero's now ready for you.
•Finally, we've added the ability for you to Finalize an adoption. Once you load course materials in the Adoption Editor, save them to be taken to the next screen.
There, you'll see the adoptions exactly as your students will see them. Scroll through, make sure you like what you see, and click Finalize.
And here's the cool part: once you finalize your adoptions, Hero shoots them over to the bookstore's point of sale platform. Finalization lets the bookstore know that they're safe to start sourcing the books you adopted.
If you're a Campus Admin, you can also now see our new Adoptions Awaiting Finalization screen as well. It's a simple list per term of any sections with -- you guessed it -- adoptions awaiting finalization.
Content and Communication
•Introducing Publisher Studio! Hero already allows you to attach content to sections. Now, publishers can attach content to content. This allows them to surround their books with supplemental resources that enrich your and your students' experience of the course.
If you see an item in Adoption Editor search results that has free resources included, click View to see them. From there, you can contact the publisher, request a sample copy, or scroll through resources that the publisher's uploaded directly to Hero. If you adopt the item, everything included in the package is yours (and your students'!) for the duration of the term. And as a bonus, you can even share any of these items with your students in a single click.
If you adopt the item, everything included in the package is yours (and your students'!) for the duration of the term.
•If you'd like to be copied on any email sent to a faculty member (emails inviting them to Adopt or Endorse course materials), Hero can do that. Just reach out to your nearest Customer Success Manager or our Store Support team at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll set it up. And if you decide that hundreds of emails in your inbox is no longer fun, we can stop them just as easily.
•To make your life a dream and a joy, adoptions coming over from Nebraska POS will now be grouped with Required items at the top of the list.
•If a section name comes over from Nebraska with a character that isn't a number or letter, Hero can handle it. Which is not to say that you should send us section names like !0%%67/$. Just that Hero won't throw up if you do.
If you have questions, concerns, or compliments, we'd love to hear them! Reach out to your Customer Success Manager or flag down Store Support at email@example.com.
